Lash Lifting Regulations in Rhode Island: Professional License vs Certification:
Is a Professional License to perform Lash Lifting and Lash Tint services REQUIRED in the state of Rhode Island? 100% YES!
In Rhode Island, a Professional License is required to perform Lash Lift services. This regulation instituted by the Rhode Island Department of Health has been in effect since 2016.
Lash Artists (aka “Lash Techs”) can ONLY perform lash extensions. No lash lifts, tints, brow tints, henna, lamination etc. or any other services are prohibited. A Lash Artist certification is required.
It is dishonest and unethical to not disclose that you are unlicensed and therefore should not be performing a lash lift service to a client. If you are unlicensed and performing lash lift services, you should STOP offering this service immediately!
Licensed Professionals have hundreds of hours of training that includes the safe handling of salon chemicals and proper sanitation methods.
A “certification”, which usually only includes a few hours of instruction, is not a substitute for a Professional License.
Out of state licenses are not valid to work in Rhode Island.
The world is full of imitators, pretenders, and those looking for the path of least resistance and the easiest way. Real Professionals never take the easy way. They are never looking to cut corners. They are always ready to learn more, invest more and become the best at what they do.
Your health and safety are important! Don’t trust your eye and lash health to just anyone when searching for a qualified lash lift professional, especially an unlicensed lash artist! Do your research and choose a Licensed Professional.
This regulation has been in place since 2016. Read the board meeting minutes here:
